Cruelty-Free Silk Collection
This collection is over three years in the making. Our founder Hayley's research began after she learned the shocking details of how sustainable silk fabric is actually made. It ain't pretty, people...
With traditional silk, silkworms are killed - usually boiled alive - in the process to make it. Silk is beautiful, soft AND a natural, sustainable fiber. But, it's not worth it to compromise our brand morals for a fabric that isn't animal-friendly. Hayley wondered "Are others in the dark about the process of making traditional silk, too?"
Hayley then began literally googling to find a company making cruelty-free silk.
We're honored to introduce to you a very rare cruelty-free silk fabric. It's bleach-free, chemical-free, 100% organic and natural.
More about the fabric :
- Rare peace silk - also known as Ahimsa silk - is a process that allows the silkworm to emerge from their cocoon free and happy and complete their natural life cycle. The empty cocoons are then used to produce silk. Cruelty-free silk is not a vegan fabric since animals are used to make it, however, it's animal-friendly. Unlike traditional silk, silkworms are not killed in the process to make it.
Free cruelty-free silk bag included with every purchase:
- Every piece from our cruelty-free silk collection comes packed in a cruelty-free silk bag. Bag ties are hand-made from recycled Sari silk and hand-dyed. When the silk fabric is cut and made into Saris, there's always a bit left over. From the fabric waste, the bag ribbons are made by women in cooperatives in India. The makers tear strips of fabric from the sari remnants to create less waste. We left the bag ties raw and unfinished - because imperfection is perfection.
- *Only 2/3 packs of scrunchies will come in silk bag - single scrunchie purchases will come in our traditional cotton packaging bag.
